Workshop Information
The Pre-conference Workshop: LIHTC 301: A Course for the Experienced Professional is targeted toward low-income housing tax credit industry professionals who have more than 5 years in the industry. As in the "LIHTC Basics" class, instructors will focus on the issues that one encounters at the property and operating partnership levels during the construction and operating periods. Some of the same topics addressed in the Basics course will be addressed in the Advanced course but in far greater detail. Several other topics not addressed in the Basics course will be considered in the Advanced course.
Workshop Format
Using Power Point slides to guide attendees through the material at an appropriate pace, the instructors will clarify concepts and facilitate discussion. They will also use an Excel financial model throughout the course to show the GAAP and tax consequences of certain actions. Most importantly, the Advanced class instructors will encourage and allocate time for a lot of in-depth, real-world questions. Some of the most successful Advanced sessions have resulted from going "off script" to discuss questions raised by attendees.
