Palmer's Dock Palmer's Dock

Besides representing a $39.3 million community investment and bringing badly need retail to the area, Palmer’s Dock has brought approximately 280 residents to the Williamsburg neighborhood. This growth helps mitigate past population losses and disinvestment, and has galvanized millions of dollars of new development along the waterfront. As the resident families grow, their demand for goods, housing, and a better quality of life will spur continued investment and business growth.

By transforming a former garbage transfer station into affordable homes, the development not only provides high quality affordable living to low-income working families and individuals and families with special needs, but also improves the quality of life of all local residents.

Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation

A decade ago, Dudley Square was the site of a string of vacant lots, deteriorated buildings and the Fundozinho Lounge, an ugly building where four people were shot in five years. Now the Dudley Village project has replaced the notorious nightclub. The Dudley Street corridor has become a vibrant, multicultural district teeming with new life and new development including the new rental housing of Dudley Village and Cottage Brook. A previously blighted area of Boston characterized by disinvestment and the resulting negative social consequences, Dudley Square has become a focal point for investment by not-for-profit, private and public entities that have partnered to rebuild the community.
