Title: Compliance Auditor

Description:
Compliance Auditor is responsible for regulatory compliance oversight of an assigned portfolio of affordable multifamily projects to ensure safeguarding of assets; oversees compliance procedures, audits property files and handles investor/lender reporting requirements.

Reports to: Compliance Manager

Important Relationships: Positive, productive relationships with property management employees, regulatory agencies and all project-affiliated entities (lenders, investors, partners).

Responsibilities:
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor all bond, tax credit and HUD requirements for properties within assigned portfolio.
  2. Review and approve new residents to ensure accuracy and procedural compliance; submit first year files to investors and respond to necessary questions and/or corrections.
  3. Compile all compliance reports as required by state monitoring authority for assigned properties, including but not limited to:
    1. Monthly bond reporting
    2. Annual Investor auditing
    3. Monthly PSR Review
    4. 8703 Annual Bond Requirement
    5. Annual Operating Expense
    6. Annual Property Owner Profile
    7. Annual Owner Certification
    8. Property tax exemption filings
  4. Oversee and monitor recertification process to ensure all are completed accurately and timely.
  5. Ensure that all income and utility matrixes and related information are accurate and current for the purposes of annual rent and income calculations for assigned properties.
  6. Interact with monitoring authorities regarding compliance matters.
  7. Interface with management agent representative in the resolution of potential compliance issues.
  8. Complete annual audit of all assigned sites and assist department as needed with additional audits.
  9. Assist with due diligences of acquisitions as needed.

  5. Attend state compliance trainings annually and audits and inspections, as necessary.

Position Requirements:

Experience:
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in training and experience.
Minimum of three years experience in compliance position or property management.
Specific experience with Low Income Housing Tax Credits (Section 42) and/or HUD assisted properties.
Any of the following designations preferred: Housing Credit Certified Professional designation; Certified Professional of Occupancy designation; Fair Housing Coordinator designation; Registered Apartment Manager designation.
