The National Equity Fund, Inc. (NEF), the largest non-profit syndicator of low-income housing tax credits, is seeking a Vice President of Asset Management Operations to manage a team of professionals responsible for the functional operations of NEF s portfolio of lower-tier investments. This individual is empowered to develop business policies to effectively meet NEF s objectives as well as to ensure that the asset management staff is properly trained to succeed in their respective responsibilities. Monitor the activities of project investments placed on the company s watch-list; participate in developing strategies to minimize the company s and fund s exposure. Develop and maintain NEF s asset management policies and procedures, monitor implementation and resolve any deviations. Ensure adequate asset management and construction risk management personnel are in place for the preservation of NEF assets. Assist regional and risk unit directors in recruitment, retention, and productivity of their staff. Provide technical assistance and/or resources to regional directors and staff that will assist them in achieving their goals and objective. Participate in the due diligence reviews and negotiations with NEF fund investors. Supervise post closing equity disbursement process and oversee year 15 partnership dispositions.
Responsibilties:
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor s degree in business administration, finance, real estate or related field. Master s degree is preferred along with minimum of ten years experience in real estate development, asset management and/or portfolio administration is required. Experience in a community development context is desirable. Knowledge and practical experience with the low-income housing tax credit program is imperative. Experience in the management of affordable rental housing involving limited partnership is preferred. Strong managerial and supervisory skills are a requirement along with a positive attitude, and the ability and willingness to provide motivation to staff in the achievement of corporate and departmental goals in a team environment. This position also requires strong written and verbal communication skills, effective negotiation, creative problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
