Apollo Equity Partners, part of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) family, is a national tax credit syndicator with a focus on low-income housing tax credits (LIHTC). We are seeking a Vice President of Investor Relations to function as a senior relationship manager for institutional investor relationships, along with managing the closing of funds with investors. This position reports to the Director of Investor Relations and can be located in preferential sites of Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; or alternately in Cleveland, OH or other possible locations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Management
  • Lead and manage existing investor relationships for productive results and long-term impact.
  • Lead sales presentation of real estate funds to investors.
  • Determine expectations of investors on underwriting standards, and ensure these standards are incorporated into the acquisition process.
  • Business Development & Originations
  • Key player in the implementation, execution and management of business development and originations strategy.
  • Partner with Director of Investor Relations and Director of Acquisitions in determining distribution needs and resulting business development targets.
  • Manage the focus and balance between large core investors and regional investors.
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors on their institutional knowledge within regional markets and leverage their efforts on origination activity and management of regional investor relationships.
  • Develop relationships with RBC Capital Markets peers to leverage investor relationships and gain broader access to potential investors.
  • Participate in development of initiatives in new tax motivated product lines.
  • Fund Management
  • Manage the closing process to ensure projects are properly underwritten for resale to institutional investors.
  • Provide regular insight to the credit officer on investor risk tolerance and structuring issues.
  • Partner with credit staff to ensure complete diligence of all underwriting elements of each transaction.
  • Encourage communication and coordination with the staff that are part of the buy, sell, and asset management process.

Responsibilties: Required Skills:

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Real Estate/Urban Planning and a demonstrated track record in senior-level relationship management.  This position requires extensive experience in real estate finance in a production oriented environment where the position demanded a balance of management, underwriting, and sales and presentation skills.  Key skills include process management, real estate underwriting, financial analysis, risk/return analysis.  Prior experience managing exempt-level professionals and managers is relevant.  Knowledge of the LIHTC (Sec. 42) asset class is preferred, but not required.  Proficiency in MS-Office network environment (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is essential.
