Brief Description of Development:
The Emeryville Center for Community Life project ("ECCL") is the development of a 182,271 square foot mixed-use community and educational facility located at 4727 San Pablo Avenue in Emeryville, California. The project brings together educational, health, family, and recreational services onto one central site. ECCL is the culmination of a ten-year public-private partnership between the business community, community members, Emery Unified School District and the City of Emeryville ( Development Team ).
The ECCL campus delivers Cradle to Cradle services, meeting the needs of families in every stage of life. The project will deliver early childhood education and afterschool programs, health and family support services, child-care services, job training and college courses provided by Berkeley City College and a wide range of recreation opportunities to low-income community residents.
NMTC funding will be used to directly finance the $30MM K-12 education facilities. Without NMTC subsidy, the larger ECCL project will need to be scaled back with critical components of the Project being delayed and potentially scrapped altogether. NMTC Subsidy will also enable the Development Team to complete the entire project within one cycle, rather than a phased approach.
