The Freelon at Sugar Hill, a mixed-use development in Midtown Detroit’s Sugar Hill Arts District and the Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits Community Development Real Estate QLICI of the Year, will provide high-quality, modern housing options including units set aside for veterans. Financing included NMTCs allocated by Building America CDE ($14.5 million), Michigan Community Capital ($6 million), Cinnaire New Markets LLC ($5 million) and PNC Community Partners ($4 million). The development also includes commercial space advancing racial equity through place-based development and social entrepreneurship opportunities. The development is part of a larger revitalization effort to create a vibrant, walkable neighborhood.
