Legislation to increase California’s annual state low-income housing tax credit allocation by $500 million passed the state Assembly and is now being considered by the state Senate. A.B. 10 would require $25 million of the additional allocation to go to farmworker housing and would apply to the calendar years from 2020 through 2024. Other California housing bills that advanced from the Assembly before Friday’s deadline to be considered in the Senate this year were A.B. 1486, which would expand the definition of the surplus land available for affordable housing development, and A.B. 1763, which would provide a density bonus for the development of 100 percent affordable housing properties.
