CONGRESS PASSES LEGISLATION TO REFORM HUD SECTION 811
The House today adopted S. 1481, the Frank Melville Supportive Housing Investment Act, which reforms the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities program. S. 1481 will allocate funding to triple the number of supportive housing units built with federal dollars; speed up the production process by allowing states greater involvement in project approval; and provide incentives to partner federal supportive housing money, including federal low-income housing tax credits, with state and private dollars. The Senate passed the act on December 17. The legislation has been sent to President Barack Obama.
