GAO Issues Priority Open Recommendations for HUD
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) today released a report with priority recommendations to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), outlining 17 priority open recommendations for HUD. GAO’s Priority Open Recommendations for HUD adds eight recommendations to last year’s original list of nine such recommendations. The new recommendations include strengthening the process to address lead paint hazards, strengthening the monitoring of disaster recovery block grant funds, improving information technology and more. GAO says the priority open recommendations are for the heads of key departments because their implementation could save money, improve decision-making, eliminate mismanagement, fraud and abuse or ensure that programs comply with laws.
