Two bills introduced in the Hawaii Legislature would extend the state low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) through 2027, with one of the bills making the state LIHTC allocable among partners. S.B. 867 would extend the state credit–which is set to expire Dec. 31, 2021–to the end of 2027, citing the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Hawaiian economy. H.B. 378 would extend the credit through 2027 and would also allow the credit to be allocated among partners. The Hawaii state LIHTC is for 50% of the federal credit.
