House Financial Services Committee Passes Housing Bills
The House Financial Services Committee today passed a series of bills, including the Housing is Infrastructure Act and the Housing Fairness Act. The Housing is Infrastructure Act (H.R. 5187) would authorize $70 billion to address the capital needs backlog for public housing and another $32.1 billion for investments in affordable housing. The Housing Fairness Act (H.R. 149) would authorize increased funding for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Fair Housing Initiatives program and make a number of reforms. Both bills advance to the full House.
