House Subcommittee Marks up Fiscal Year 2003 Spending Bill

The House Veterans Administration (VA), Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Independent Agencies (IA) Appropriations Subcommittee met this week to mark-up its fiscal year 2003 spending bill. The Senate version, S 2797, was approved by the Senate VA/HUD/IA subcommittee July 25 and would allocate $32.1 billion for HUD next year. The House legislation proposes a budget of $36.1 billion for HUD, which provides a $1.8 billion increase in total program spending and a net appropriations increase of $1.2 billion.
