HUD to Accept Comments on Small Area FMR Suspension
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will publish in the Federal Register Tuesday a solicitation for comment on its August suspension of small area fair market rent (FMR) designations for certain metropolitan areas. HUD suspended a regulation for two years that public housing agencies (PHAs) use small area FMRs to give housing choice voucher families access to areas of higher opportunity and lower poverty. The suspension affected 23 of the 24 metro areas scheduled to be subject to the requirement on Oct. 1. Tuesday’s notice will allow public comment on that decision for a period of 30 days.
