HUD Announced New Affordable Housing Goals Governing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has announced new affordable housing goals governing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, according to an Oct. 31 Federal Register notice. The new regulations raise the required percentages of mortgage loans for low- and moderate-income families that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac must buy annually from the current 42 percent of their total purchases to 50 percent.
