HUD AWARDS $50 MILLION IN CDBGS TO DISASTER AREAS

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released a notice in today’s Federal Register that makes available $50 million of the $100 million of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) disaster recovery funds allocated to areas declared major disaster areas as a result of severe storms and flooding that occurred from March through May 2010. HUD has awarded the following: Kentucky state government, $13 million; Rhode Island state government, $8.9 million; city of Cranston, R.I., $1.3 million; city of Warwick, R.I., $2.8 million; Tennessee state government, $10 million; city of Memphis, Tenn., $2 million; Nashville-Davidson County, Tenn. $10.7 million; and Shelby County, Tenn., $1.2 million.
