HUD Proposes Rule to Require Assistance Applications Through Web Site

Tuesday, November 23, 2004 - 1:45AM

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today proposed a rule that would require all applicants for HUD grants and other financial assistance to submit applications electronically through a web site. HUD says it expects that electronic grant application submission will standardize, simplify and improve the integrity of the grant making process. HUD is required to make this transition by goals set out in the President's Management Agenda for Fiscal Year 2002, which includes a requirement for federal agencies to allow applicants for federal grants and other federal financial assistance to find, apply for, and ultimately manage grant funds online through a common government-wide portal.
