HUD Provides $472 Million to PHAs for COVID-19 Expenses; Funds Set Aside by CARES Act

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) today announced $472 million in funding for public housing agencies (PHAs) to assist low-income families during the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds are made available from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and can be used to procure cleaning supplies and services to maintain safe and sanitary housing choice voucher apartments and common areas; relocate families to designated units for testing, hospitalization or quarantine; cover costs for supportive service vendors due to COVID-19; and more.
