HUD to Publish Notice Establishing Process to Replace RAD Section 8 Units After Natural Disaster or Other Causes Make them Unavailable
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will publish a notice in Friday’s Federal Register establishing a process by which units under Section 8 housing assistance payment contract originally executed under the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program can be replaced if they are unavailable for occupancy due to a natural disaster or other causes. The notice supplements the RAD-enabled transfer of units to a new site by providing a mechanism for public housing authorities (PHAs) to enter a RAD interim agreement and new RAD project-based voucher housing assistance payment (HAP) contract when a direct transfer of the HAP contract is not possible.
The Novogradac Rental Assistance Demonstration Handbook is your guide to the RAD program, from consideration through development and post-development compliance.
