The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will publish in Friday’s Federal Register the operating cost adjustment factors (OCAFs) for 2021 for project-based assistance Section 8 contracts with an anniversary date of Feb. 11, 2021, or later. OCAFs adjust Section 8 rents renewed under Section 515 or Section 524 of the Multifamily Assisted Housing Reform and Affordability Act of 1997. The median U.S. OCAF for 2021 is 2.5 percent and the state OCAFs range from 1.8 percent in Vermont to 2.8 percent in New Jersey, Texas and Wisconsin.
