IRS, HUD Announce Disaster Assistance for Georgia, U.S. Virgin Islands

Tuesday, September 19, 2017 - 11:30AM

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced today that those affected by Hurricane Irma in Georgia will have until Jan. 31, 2018, to file certain individual and business tax returns and make certain tax payments. The assistance parallels relief granted earlier to those affected by Irma in Florida and parts of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and to those affected by Harvey in parts of Texas.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) yesterday announced it would provide immediate foreclosure relief, mortgage insurance, reallocation of existing federal resources toward disaster relief and Section 108 loan guarantee assistance to those affected by Hurricane Irma in Georgia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
