Louisiana Legislation Would Create State LIHTC With $100 Million Annual Cap

Tuesday, April 11, 2023 - 9:45AM

A bill introduced in the Louisiana Legislature would create a state low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) with an annual statewide cap of $100 million. Under H.B. 452, the credit would be equal to the federal LIHTC award and be transferrable, but not refundable. The state LIHTC would become effective for tax years beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2024, and would expire Dec. 31, 2029.

The interaction of state and federal LIHTCs will be a topic at the Novogradac 2023 Affordable Housing Conference, April 27-28 in San Francisco.
