Maryland Bill Would Make OZs Eligible for State Credits, Financial Assistance

A bill introduced in the Maryland state Senate would make projects in opportunity zones (OZs) eligible for certain tax credits and Department of Commerce financial assistance. Under SB 663, the state Job Creation tax credit, One Maryland tax credit and Businesses that Create New Jobs tax credit would all apply to investments in OZs, as would benefits for Arts and Entertainment districts, Enterprise zones, Base Revitalization and Closure zones, the Community Legacy Program, Neighborhood Business Development program and Strategic Demolition and Smart Growth Impact Fund.
