NCSHA Releases Updated Edition of Recommended Practices in LIHTC Administration

Friday, October 27, 2023 - 11:00AM

The National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA) today released an updated edition of NCSHA’s Recommended Practices in Housing Credit Administration, consensus standards that guide how states administer the federal low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) incentive. This is the seventh edition of NCSHA’s recommended practices. The updated edition includes guidance concerning increasing costs, dealing with pressures on the long-term affordability of existing properties and site considerations. The new edition also features first-time guidance for how state housing credit agencies can encourage meaningful renter protections that are workable for developers and property managers. The NCSHA also released a summary of the updated practices. The most recent revision of the NCSHA practices was in 2017.

A panel on how states are addressing the LIHTC is part of the Novogradac 2023 Housing Tax Credit Finance Conference, Nov. 30-Dec. 1 in Las Vegas.
