New York State legislators passed a state budget bill yesterday that extends the state historic rehabilitation tax credit program through 2019. Senate Bill 2609D provides a 20 percent state tax credit and a $5 million project cap for commercial rehabilitations completed by the end of 2019. After 2019, the tax credit will be reduced to 6 percent and the per-project cap for tax credits will be reduced to  $100,000. The bill also extends the historic homeowner tax credit program through 2019. Gov. Andrew Cuomo is expected to sign the bill April 1.
