Reps. Waters, Porter Introduce Bill to Provide $1.2 Billion in COVID-19 Relief for HUD Seniors, Housing Providers

Reps. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and Katie Porter, D-Calif., introduced legislation to provide $1.2 billion in relief for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) senior housing residents and providers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Emergency Housing Assistance for Older Adults Act of 2020 (H.R. 6873) would provide $845 million for HUD Section 202 housing, focused on additional staff and personal protective equipment. The bill would provide $300 million for service coordinators grants to prevent, prepare for or respond to public health emergencies related to COVID-19 and $50 million for wireless internet services.
