State Senators Introduce Maryland RETC Bill

Thursday, February 23, 2017 - 9:45AM

Four Maryland state senators introduced legislation this month to create a state renewable energy tax credit worth 35 percent or 50 percent of eligible costs. Maryland SB 926 calls for a 50 percent credit for brownfield sites and low-income communities, and 35 percent credit elsewhere. There would be a $5 million cap for business use and a $10,500 cap for residential use, beginning in 2018 and sunsetting at the end of 2022. The aggregate cap for the credit during that five-year period would be $125 million for business use and $25 million for residential use.
