Trump Signs Executive Order to Create OZ Council
President Donald Trump today signed an executive order establishing the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council, which will be led by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson and will include representatives from 13 federal agencies. The council will work across agencies to prioritize or focus federal investments and programs on urban and economically distressed communities, including opportunity zones (OZs). The council will also assess ways to minimize regulatory and administrative costs of investing in OZs. The executive order requires the council to submit to the president a work plan within 90 days of the order and a list of best practices and recommended statutory, regulatory and policy changes within one year of the order.
