Waters, Colleagues Request More HUD, USDA Housing Funding
Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., joined her colleagues in posting four letters to Congressional colleagues asking for increases in funding for rental and homeless assistance programs. Waters and her colleagues called on appropriators to provide additional funds for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) offerings that include public housing, Section 8, Section 202 and Section 811 programs; to increase funding for United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) rural housing programs; to increase funding for the HUD Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program; and to fully fund the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistances Grants contracts. Forty-five House members joined Waters on the HUD programs letter, 24 joined the USDA letter and five joined the CDBG letter. Waters was the lone signee on the McKinney-Vento letter.
