White House OZ Council Releases Report to President on Incentive

Friday, February 7, 2020 - 4:00pm

The White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council today publicly released its report to President Donald Trump, highlighting its achievements and calling for legislation to measure and report the impact of opportunity zones (OZs). The council, formed in December 2018 to target, streamline and coordinate federal resources to be used in OZs and other economically distressed areas, includes 17 federal agencies. The 157-page report notes that the council has made 223 recommendations, of which action has been taken on 180. The report makes two legislative recommendations–for an impact-reporting bill on OZ investment and for centralization of federal economic assistance resources for use in OZs. A subsequent report identifying best practices in OZs will be made this spring.
