The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) extended the comment period for the annual adjustment factors (AAFs) rent-increase requirement until Dec. 19, 2014. Owners of project-based Section 8 contracts that use the AAF as the method of rent adjustment provide this information to determine whether or not the subject properties’ rents are to be adjusted and, if so, the amount of the adjustment.

The Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) announced Nov. 19 a reminder for the 2014 year-end audit. The audit is for WHEDA-financed and American Recovery Act (ARRA)-financed developments. Financial statements are due within 60 days of the development’s fiscal year-end. For developments on a calendar-year basis, the deadline is March 1. More information is available at www.wheda.com.

The National Multifamily Housing Council, in partnership with Kingsley Associates, released its “2014 Package Delivery Survey.” The survey provides information on how apartment communities handle the growing demands of package deliveries. The study includes information from community managers at 28 multifamily firms. The study found that in 2014, Americans spent approximately $300 billion on products ordered online. The survey also found that 88 percent of all apartment communities accept package deliveries, and that one in four apartment communities used specialized software to manage packages on-site.
