Guest Speaker and Author: Forrest Milder

Forrest David Milder has more than 30 years of experience in the tax aspects of project finance, particularly renewable energy (including solar, wind, geothermal and biofuels), housing, historic rehabilitation tax credits (HTCs) and new markets tax credits (NMTCs), as well as many other related fields, including partnerships and limited liability companies; tax-exempt organizations and unrelated business income; business formation, operation, and disposition; executive compensation; and tax-exempt bonds and other structured financial products. Mr. Milder regularly structures transactions, addresses the tax consequences, and provides tax advice and opinions with respect to tax-advantaged projects on behalf of developers, sponsors and leading syndicators and investors, including Aegon, Boston Financial, US Bank, AIG Sun America, Bank of America, Citicorp, Morgan Stanley, NEF, the Massachusetts Housing Equity Fund, SunTrust, Boston Capital and many others. He also drafts, reviews, and analyzes many of the documents related to partnership investments and advises the parties on their consequences. Mr. Milder is the author or co-author of many articles on tax advantaged investments and related matters, as well as the BNA treatise, "Rehabilitation Tax Credit and Low Income Housing Tax Credit." He has appeared many times on the front page of The Wall Street Journal (in its weekly "Tax Report" column), as well as in The Boston Globe, Banker & Tradesman, The Boston Business Journal, Mass High Tech, and Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly with comments on recent and proposed tax legislation. He writes a monthly column on renewable energy, entitled "The Current," for the Novogradac Journal of Tax Credits. Mr. Milder was a lecturer in law at Boston University Law School from 1990-1995, a guest lecturer at the University of Michigan Law School in 2002, and frequent speaker for a large number of educational programs and meetings of organizations that focus on tax-advantaged transactions.
