Guest Speaker: Brian J. Weaver

Partner - Stinson LLC

Brian concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate, banking and finance law. He counsels investors, community development entities and developers in transactions that generate tax credits and government incentives. His extensive corporate experience focuses on structuring loan and real estate transactions, including traditional and incentivized finance vehicles, for private equity and public companies, developers and nonprofit organizations. Strongly committed to community development and urban revitalization, Brian has substantial experience helping clients navigate transactions that generate state and federal historic rehabilitation tax credits, state and federal new markets tax credits, and state and federal renewable energy tax credits. He also negotiates a wide range of other finance and real estate transactions. For projects large and small, Brian works closely with each client’s management teams, finance and tax departments, and internal legal counsel to identify and implement best practices and creative legal solutions.

Brian is well known for representing investors and syndicators in tax credit transactions, and has also built a reputation as an effective counselor to developers and non-profit borrowers. In addition, representing investors and syndicators in projects across the country, his representation on transformative projects in the St. Louis area has included rehabilitation of a blighted industrial building into a 15 unit microapartment complex, renovation by a non-profit of its facilities to better serve at-risk youth, and a dramatic rehabilitation of a 235,000 square foot building into hundreds of loft-style apartments. Prior to law school, Brian worked as an intern for U.S. Representative Kenny Hulshof and as an intern at the White House.
