Guest Speaker: Jim Shaw
Executive Director, Capital Area Housing Finance Corporation
Jim Shaw is the executive director of the Capital Area Housing Finance Corporation (CAHFC) as well as president of its 14 subsidiary entities. Mr. Shaw received his bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin and has completed numerous graduate courses in finance. He played a key role in working with the U.S. Treasury, FHFA, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac to create the New Issue Bond Program in 2009. Mr. Shaw has more than 30 years of economic development, real estate development, planning, and public finance experience and has been responsible for the planning, financing and development of projects totaling more than $2 billion. He also founded a successful real estate development consulting firm responsible for numerous residential, commercial, and industrial projects in the Austin area. Mr. Shaw’s civic activities include serving on the board of directors of United Cerebral Palsy of Texas, and Easter Seals of Central Texas. He is also active in Meals on Wheels and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
