Guest Speaker: Matthew Bissonette

Since beginning his career in affordable housing more than 20 years ago, Bissonette has closed more than 300 debt financings, totaling more than $4 billion.  In his current role as executive director at JPMorgan, he is responsible for the origination of agency debt to finance affordable multifamily housing across the country.  Prior to joining JPMorgan in June of 2021, Bissonette was a managing director at Berkadia focused on affordable multifamily debt originations.  Prior to that he worked for nine years with Citi Community Capital in New York and Denver, serving as the Northeast regional director from 2013 to 2017. Earlier in his career he was a Director with RBC Capital Markets and a Partner with a Washington, D.C.-based law firm specializing in affordable housing bond finance. Prior to working in affordable housing, Bissonette worked for the U.S House of Representatives, serving as Assistant Counsel for the Committee on Small Business and as Legislative Assistant for a Member of Congress.  Bissonette graduated from the University of Virginia, where he received a bachelor's in economics.  He received his J.D. from the College of William and Mary School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board, Chief Justice of the Judicial Council and awarded the Marshall-Wythe Gambrell Professionalism Award.  He is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, Virginia and Colorado. Bissonette serves on the board of Boulder Housing Partners (the housing authority for the City of Boulder, CO) and volunteers with The Honor Foundation, working with former members of U.S. Special Operations Forces to transition from military to successful civilian careers.
