Principal

Robert Bennett is a principal in Novogradac’s metropolitan Detroit office. He is an analytical, detail-oriented audit professional with more than 12 years of experience providing audit, review, common interest real estate accounting, governmental audits for U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) assisted projects, financial institutions accounting, and financial statement preparation services to public accounting firms.  Mr. Bennett has 15 years of supervisory experience in roles in lower, middle and senior level management. He is a subject matter expert on a wide range of real estate, HUD compliance, banking and technical accounting topics; consistently sought after by staff and by clients to explain reporting requirements, updated accounting pronouncements, compliance and regulations, and various other topics, and by senior management to organize training exercises and presentations to enhance overall staff knowledge.  Mr. Bennett is known for his keen business acumen demonstrated through effective management of client relationships: able to identify viable opportunities to develop new revenue streams and to enhance and expand existing relationships.  A creative, analytical thinker, Mr. Bennett has a proven track record in uncovering deficiencies and fraud, evaluating root causes of control weaknesses, and identifying solutions that improve over organization effectiveness.  Mr. Bennett received a master’s degree in accounting from Walsh College and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Windsor. He is licensed in Michigan as a certified public accountant.
