Brief Description of QALICB:
The development of a 41,000 sq. ft. multipurpose facility on includes a 700 seat theater and 8,000 square feet of space providing arts, cultural, educational and community events. The City of Federal Way has acquired property for its development. Impacted by the Great Recession specifically in the downtown area with the loss of both major and small retailers creating double digit unemployment, the City has confronted the economic loss by completing an economic analysis to address a new economic direction to diversify its downtown marketplace and citywide economy while providing future employment opportunities for its low income population, and enhancing the community through arts, cultural, educational activities. This facility will act as the catalyst for the creation of the National Native American Culinary Arts Institute and subsequent incorporation of the address environmental issues by building to LEEDS certified standards.
The project would not be possible without the use of NMTC's because of the financial capacity of the city.
